2016 Ford Focus ST Specs Review and Release Date

2016 Ford Focus ST specs review, release date… – Ford introduced Focus, one of their top-selling models in 1998 and from the first day it has managed to get its own audience and establish its leading position in its segment. In 2005, Ford decided to introduce a special sports edition of this model, called Focus ST – it is very similar to the original model, but it comes with a powerful engine and special trim levels.

The Focus ST became an instant hit and for years now it is considered to be one of the best “hot hatches” in the world. The  Ford Focus ST 2016 was designed and built with the same idea in mind, but it is now more powerful and it comes with lots of new features and equipment. The new Focus ST has to face quite fierce competition – like Renault Megane RS Cup, Honda Civic Type R, Volkswagen Golf GTI, Audi S3 and Hyundai Veloster Turbo.

2016 Ford Focus ST Exterior Specs

The American manufacturer wanted to make the new 2016 Ford Focus ST as special as possible in order for it to differentiate from the original model. Because of the new Focus ST comes with lots of interesting details on the outside – the front grille is unique and it is offered only on this model – it does not have chrome outline (it is completely black) and it comes with ST badge located in the bottom right corner, rocker moldings are also unique, automatic headlights with quad-beam halogen elements (HID automatic headlamps with special lighting and cornering functionality comes as an option), fog lamps are unique and high mounted spoiler in the back.

In the back of the car, ST center exhaust with dual bright tips is a nice detail and it fits perfectly with the massive rear bumper that has black accents. Apart from that, new 2016 Ford Focus ST offers some neat features on the outside like EasyFuel – capless fuel filler. In terms of looks, it is obvious that this model is a special edition – because of that unique grille, the 2016 Ford Focus ST looks more aggressive than the original and thanks to the bigger alloy wheels (it is offered with standard 18-inch and unique 18-inch alloy wheels available only for the ST). Furthermore, the Focus ST will be offered in unique colors that are not available for the original model.

The Ford Focus ST 2016 has an amazing interior – on the first glance it is obvious that this is a much better version of the original. First thing you’ll notice are the seats – cloth front bucket seats that have ST logo come as standard, while the partial-leather or full leather front bucket seats made by Recaro are optional. Furthermore, there are many more things you can customize – for example you can choose to add a Carbon Fiber interior accent package where you get a gear shift know in carbon and some other carbon fiber accents.

The multifunctional leather steering wheel feels much better than the one in the original Focus, which can be upgraded to the heated version in one of the packages. When it comes to air conditioning, the base version of the 2016 Ford Focus ST comes with manual climate controls, while the Dual-zone electronic automatic climate control is optional (and included in SE and ST2 trim levels). Keyless entry, USB ports, illuminated entry, MyKey owner control and aluminum pedals and shifter are all part of the standard equipment on the Focus ST.

Engine of 2016 Ford Focus ST

The key selling point of the 2016 Ford Focus ST is the performance and handling. The new Focus ST will be offered with the familiar 2.0l EcoBoost turbocharged engine that produces 252 horsepower and it will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, while it is not known whether the American manufacturer will offer an automatic transmission even as an option on this model. Ford wanted to make the car handle better than its predecessor and because of that they used a MacPherson front sport-tuned suspension and a ControlBlade rear suspension that has a stabilizer bar. The 2016 Ford Focus ST should go from 0 to 60 in around 6.2 seconds.
